Terms & Conditions

By entering the “Mdundo DJ Battle” competition, you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

1. STANDARD TERMS

1.1 Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry.

​

2. WHO CAN ENTER?

2.1 Entry is open to all DJs in Nigeria, respectively, (hereafter ‘eligible entrant’).

​

3. HOW TO ENTER

3.1 The competition commences on Monday 10th of April and ends in May 2023.

3.2 In order to enter, eligible entrants must submit the application from on mdundodjbattle.com, create an account on Mdundo.com/in/signup and upload a mixtape to the account following the terms on conditions of the mdundo.com service here: https://www.mdundodjbattle.com. The winner will be selected by an expert panel of judges selected solely by Mdundo.com AS however(1) the number of downloads of the mixtapes and (2) its social media engagement will be factored into the selection process.

3.3 Eligible entrants (including winners) in the competition may enter as many mixtapes as they wish into the competition (“entries”).

3.4 Entries must (1) be between 5-10 minutes long, (2) only include music, samples and other audio content available on Mdundo.com (or available license free) and (3) is only a complete entry when a complete setlist of the songs featured in the mixtape has been submitted under the “lyrics” section.

4. PRIZES

4.1 There will be one (1) grand winner and four (4) runner ups. The winners will receive one prize package, as set out below.

4.2 The prize consists of:

  • ​Pioneer Rev1 DJ Mix Mixer (grand winner ONLY)

  • Mdundo Ambassador for April (grand winner ONLY)

  • Mdundo branded site for 1 year

  • Mdundo Event Later In The Year

  • Social Media Promotions

  • Sponsored Interviews

  •  PR

4.3. By submitting an entry to this competition you agree to take part in the following promotional activities:

4.3.1  The Eligible entrants may be requested to share their pictures, images and likeness, bios and short videos for purposes of hyping the competition and their mixtapes for the duration of the competition.

4.3.2  The Eligible entrants hereby grant permission for their properties mentioned above  to be used by the Promoter and grant them permission to source the same from their social media platforms to fit the marketing and PR campaign needs. 

4.3.3 The Eligible entrants agree to share their social media handles and grant permission to link or tag their social media handles as part of marketing and PR campaigns.

4.3.4 The mixtapes herein submitted shall remain on the Promoter’s platform mdundo.com as per the Terms and Conditions of the use of the platform and shall be subject to the same. 

4.4 In participating in the prize, the winner agrees to participate and cooperate as required in all editorial activities relating to the Competition. The winner agrees to grant the promoter a perpetual and non-exclusive license to use such footage and photographs in all media worldwide and the winners will not be entitled to any fee for such use.

4.5 If the winner of the prize is under the age of 18 as at the date of the draw, an adult must accompany the minor in the participation of the prize.

4.5.1  In case of entrants who are minors, they shall be deemed to have consent and approval from their legal guardians.

4.6 Prizes can not be transferred or redeemed for cash

4.7 The Eligible Participants undertake that they acknowledge and understand that some prizes are donated by sponsors and third parties. The Eligible Participants hereby hold the Promoter harmless should any third parties fail to honor their commitment. The Promoter undertakes to do all things necessary to ensure the sponsors comply with their sponsorship agreements.

5. HOW TO WIN

5.1 There will be a total of 5 winners at the end of the competition.

Each entrant who has entered the competition over the duration of the competition and registered all details required (“Qualifying Entrant”) will be eligible. The winner will be chosen subject to the criteria set out in clause 3.2.

5.2 The winner will be notified by a phone call throughout April and in May.

5.3 The winner is not required to be present at the time of the draw.

5.4 The promoter’s decision is final and the promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the result.

5.5 The promoter reserves the right to refuse to allow a winner to take part in any or all aspects of the prize, if the Promoter determines, in their absolute discretion, that a winner is not in the mental or physical condition necessary to be able to safely participate in the prize. It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner may be required to sign a legal release in a form determined by the promoter in its absolute discretion.

6. NO LIABILITY

6.1 In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or significantly hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike, war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions.

6.2 Mdundo.com & affiliates and associated agencies and companies will take no responsibility for prizes damaged or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected mail.

6.3 Mdundo.com & affiliates will not be liable for any misadventure, accident, injury, loss or claim that may occur: 

a) during the draw; 

b) while undertaking any activity in or connected with their entry into the draw;

c) in the participation in any prize; 

d) as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected mail; 

e) due to the publication of any material, including any statements made by any compare, staff member, journalist, other entrants or any other person;

f) in relation to failure of an entry to be received by the promoter on account of technical problems or traffic congestion; 

g) arising from or related to any problem or technical malfunction of any computer equipment, software, internet connection, any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's computer software related to or resulting from participation in this promotion.

6.4 Mdundo.com assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, and reserves the right to take any action that may be available.

6.5 If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, the promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.
